Summer Is The Best Season Of The Year

Summer Is The Best Season Of The Year

Summer is definitely not the best season of the year. It is hot, sweaty and just downright annoying. Mosquitoes are everywhere and the heat is overwhelming, even at night.

Autumn is more desirable than summer. The wind is blowing but it’s not cold, the sun is shining but the heat is not overwhelming. Crunchy leaves litter the ground and you can sleep tranquilly at night.

In the Autumn, you can get up in the morning and have a nice warm breakfast because you slept peacefully the night before. Somedays it rain but that happens every season, no matter what. The days when it’s not raining, the sun is beaming brightly, while giving out just enough warmth.

A Long Walk To Water Section 3

A Long Walk To Water

Fear grips Salva and without the assurances of his Uncle would have driven him crazy. How does Salva overcome his fear? Have you experienced such fear and overcome it?

His uncle encouraged him to go through-out the journey. After Marial was attacked by the lion, Salva was very traumatized but Uncle Jewir helped him through it.

Of all the elements Salva has faced, which do you think is the worst? How could the Desert be the worst?

I think the desert was the worst because it was plain and hot.

How does uncle help Salva to keep walking? What might’ve happened to Salva without his uncle? How can you apply Uncle’s strategy in your life?

Uncle Jewir helps Salva by telling him 'just to walk there'. Salva would probably go crazy without his uncle. Encourage people.

Chapter 9 is powerful because of the difficulties Salva must overcome. What’s one sentence in this chapter that best summarizes the main idea and/or theme?

He could not think; he could barely see

A Long Walk To Water Section 2

A Long Walk To Water Section 2

Why doesn’t the group want Salva along? How do you feel about the fact that the group is willing to isolate and reject him?

The group might not want him along because he is not old enough to do man's work but doesn't need to be looked after by the women.

Explain how water dictates Nya’s life. What one thing most dictates your life?

Nya and her family need water to survive. She has to go get water to survive. Her whole life revolves around water.
School dictates my life.

This story describes many challenges to survival. Describe three you’ve learned about so far. Do you think Salva is doing a good job learning to survive in these circumstances? Why?

1. The children have challenges with food and water
2. Everyone is vulnerable to dangers
3. People are having difficulties keeping safe
Yes, Salva is doing a good job because he hasn't come from a situation like this

Compare Nya’s life at the lake camp with her life at home (consider the availability of water, shelter, and safety).

Where-ever she is, she still has to collect water but she still doesn't have her home. At home, it is quite safe were at the camp, everyone is fighting to survive.

The Rocket Challenge

We had an amazing time working on the rocket challenge. An awesome man called Daniel Mueller came during the term to teach us about space and aerodynamics.

During the term, we tested and learnt about rockets. The video below is of my team (Apollo Six) launching our test rocket. We did this because we were looking at the aerodynamics of the bottle with no fins or nose cone. We then designed and made our own rockets using L&P bottle and ice cream lids for fins.

I learnt about how rockets worked and why fins are important.  By learning about fins, I knew what and how to make and adapt my fins.

All in all, it was an awesome time making and learning about rockets.

Practice Animation

This is my practice animation. We were practising animation because we have an assessment very soon.

Just so you know, this is weird. I just wanted you to know.
I'm sorry that you might lose brain cells. You might also whack your head on the table. Losing more brain cells. I'm so sorry

The Wooden Boy

The Wooden Boy

It had moved but not like you would think. Geppetto hadn’t moved it to a new place, no.
It was still there but it had moved its arm. That’s not something a puppet should do. However, Geppetto didn’t scream or yelled. He didn’t seem scared at all. He seemed almost calm. It was like he knew it was alive and was waiting for it to wake up.

A few days ago, Geppetto was working on his new masterpiece.
He was working hard when we heard a strange sound.
It was coming from the carved head of the puppet.
Carefully, Geppetto walked over to where the head was placed It was definitely coming from the head.
The noise sounded like singing but that would be impossible.
Wooden heads didn’t sing. When Geppetto got to the head, he found that there was no sound
The head was where he had left it, untouched.
Confused and slightly scared, Geppetto went back to his working, wondering if he was going
crazy. He had just finished carving the arm when he heard more singing.
Not in the slightest bit scared, he walked up to the head.
When we got within 5 metres of the head it stopped singing.
Geppetto picked up the head and threw it.
He didn’t throw it out the window, he threw it into a box.
A box with lots of padding.
A box that was almost sound-proof.
He still loved his creation, he just wished it would stop.

2 days had come and gone, and he had carved all the parts of the body that he needed.
Today was the day that he would assemble it.
Geppetto prepared all the pieces and attached them all together.
By the time he had finished, 4 hours had gone by.
Tired and hungry, he went into the main house to eat something.
Then, the singing started. But he could hear something else as well.
Geppetto could hear the sound of little wooden feet too.
